Parc des Salines<\/a>, located in Les Sables d’Olonne, represents 10 hectares of salt marshes sheltered by the sandy dunes of the Atlantic Ocean. Salt production dates back to ancient times. The site has become a must-see for visitors to the Vend\u00e9e region and has been promoting the region’s natural heritage for some thirty years now. The Salines have been awarded the “Qualit\u00e9 tourisme” and “Accueil v\u00e9lo” labels and receive between 30 and 35,000 visitors each year. They allow visitors to discover the history of salt through the salt marshes and to meet the salt workers to find out about their work while enjoying a moment in the heart of nature. The aim of the park is to raise awareness of ecology and to show how man and the environment can work in harmony with each other.
